On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 23 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking forward and slightly to starboard from 25 station on the port side showing a triple tier bunk unit against the ship's side. A kit locker, two boot lockers, a Thermotank air conditioning unit and fire control junction box 1 are against the forward bulkhead. The backs of three kit lockers are on the right and four boot lockers are below one of them. A mirror is at high level on the right.
