        On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971.  The photographer is in the conversion machinery room between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward from 35 station showing a row of rectifier cabinets against the ship's side on the right.  A motor generator, two parts of a metadyne and a large dual output motor generator are mounted on the deck with another large dual output motor generator almost hidden on the left.  against the forward bulkhead are a capacitor, excitation unit, starter, choke and fuse panels.
