Portable reflector telescope

This is a portable reflector telescope by Domenico Selva.

Telescope: The telescope tube and its mounting are made from brass. The telescope has rotary movement and its inclination is adjusted by a wing screw. The barrel contains primary and secondary specula (mirrors). There is a screw thread for focusing the secondary mirror through use of the rod attached to the barrel. The eye-piece has a cap and the object has an end cap. The length with the eye-piece is 435 mm, the height to the top of the barrel including the box is 445 mm, the diameter of the barrel is 65 mm and the box length is 390 mm.

Mount: Its walnut turned baluster stand screws onto the lid of the pearwood box.

Box and accessories: Both the mounting and stand are detachable and when the instrument and its parts are dismantled they fit into the box. There are woodworm holes in the lid of the box but the telescope is in good condition.
