        On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966.  The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay.  The photographer is in the 1st lieutenant's cabin between 27½ and 30 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft and to starboard.  A double pedestal desk is on the starboard side with a Cotswold Student stationery box, a filing tray and a telephone on it.  A bookshelf and two microphones are above the desk.  Against the aft bulkhead are a cupboard and a Thermotank air conditioning unit.  Above the cupboard is a framed certificate from the Safety Equipment and Survival Training School.  The door to the cabin is on the right.
