        On board the Type 12 general purpose frigate Plymouth (1959) alongside the south side of number 3 basin in Chatham Dockyard at the end of a modernization which commenced in August 1966.  The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay.  The photographer is in the 4.5 inch shell room between 19 and 23 stations on 4 deck looking to starboard from the forward end showing open shelving, some being labelled for plastic explosives, grenades, primers and 1lb charges.  A bay contents board is against the ship's side.  The shell room contents board, the ladder scotsman and a folding stool are on the right.
