A close-up starboard midship detail of the Cunard White Star Line cruise ship Laconia (1922) alongside a quay at Alexandria, Egypt.

A close-up view of the starboard midships of the hull of the Cunard White Star Line cruise ship Laconia (1922) alongside a quay at Alexandria, Egypt. The photograph shows a small part of the ship's side with an accommodation ladder rigged at a shell door. Seamen and officers man the ladder and people in local dress are standing next to the foot of the gangway. Two large white ensigns are suspended vertically above the shell door and a 'Welcome Home' sign made out of flowers of two colours is hanging at the foot of the ensigns. The ship is in the standard company livery of black hull with white upperworks but the white has been extended down by one deck. A lifering with Cunard Line (not Cunard White Star Line) on it is attached to the upper platform on the accommodation ladder. The details of the occasion are not known.
