Photonegative

A square glass plate negative of Transit of Venus taken at Luxor, Egypt in 1874 with one exposure of the planet Venus crossing the Sun's limb.

There is a paper label stuck onto the edge of glass giving details of the photograph. The edges of the glass show traces of paper binding. Guidelines are scratched across the Sun's disc. The plate is currently stored in a buff cardboard box.
