Phototransparency

Phototransparency. Glass positive photographic plate showing the eclipse of the Sun on 29 May 1919, as seen from Sobral in Brazil by Andrew Crommelin and Charles Davidson from the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. A large prominence is clearly visible.

Rectangular negative enhanced with a card mount with a circular opening. Paper label stuck onto glass negative gives details of photograph. Scratch on negative partly covered by blue ink. Stored in a large cardboard box.
