        On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Nubian (1960) alongside South Railway Jetty in Portsmouth Dockyard prior to commissioning on 9 October 1962.  The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 78 and 85 stations on 2 deck looking aft and slightly to port from 80 station on the starboard side showing two triple tier bunk units and a greatcoat locker against the ship's side.  Two folding tables and six tubular steel chairs are on the deck.  Stairs lead up to 1 deck and an hatch leads down to 3 deck on the right and two rows of kit lockers are beyond them.  An ironing board is fitted to the end of the aft row of kit lockers.  Fuse panels, a contactor panel, a small cupboard and two bookshelves are against the aft bulkhead.
