        On board the type 81 general purpose frigate HMS Tartar (1960) in Portsmouth Dockyard between November 1973 and April 1974 during a refit.  The photographer is in the main communications office between 41 and 45 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 44½ station showing the rating in charge bay equipped with two morse keys, a circuit control unit, a circuit switch unit and a range of telephone handsets, a dial telephone, microphones, loudspeakers and telephone control boxes.  A combination safe is in the foreground and a small combination safe is next to a filter panel against the starboard bulkhead.  Beyond the r-i-c's screen is the desk of the typist and distribution supervisor and it is equipped with an Imperial 66 and an Olivetti 82 typewriters.  A leading telegraphist is standing on the left.
