A view of relatively open water with some loose pack ice and small ice flows, looking towards the Alaska coast, taken from the deck of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975).

On 25 July the ice breaker sailed though the Beaufort Sea, passing pack ice. The aim was to arrive at Herschel Island, Canada, the next day.
