A Canadian Territorial helicopter landing on the heli-pad at the stern of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975)
A Canadian Territorial helicopter landing on the heli-pad at the stern of Deck 4 on the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975). The photograph was taken from the port side of the after superstructure looking to the back of the ship at clear water.
On 25 July the ice breaker sailed though the Beaufort Sea, passing pack ice. The aim was to arrive at Herschel Island, Canada, the next day. Ivy sharp recorded in her account that five British passengers were arriving by helicopter on the 26th July, delayed due to a fault on their British Airways plane.
