The Battle of the Nile, 1 Aug 1798: general view of the scene of the battle
A vigorous but very rough aerial pencil sketch of the immediate chaotic aftermath of the battle, viewed apparently from the north, looking south-east, from above Aboukir fort. The original position of the French line appears to be indicated by a double row of dashes running diagonally up from left to right. Exhibited: NMM Pocock exhib. (1976) no. 83.
