A view of the abandoned settlement at Pauline Cove, Herschel Island
A view of the abandoned settlement at Pauline Cove, Herschel Island, looking at the Bonehouse with the Community House just behind. Captain McKenna's Cabin, built around 1893, partially obscures the Bonehouse and the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals Building that housed the transmitter. This was in operation between 1930 and 1938. The building has been rehabilitated for use by Park Rangers as living quarters. The foreground is tundra that covers much of the island.
On 26 July 1996 the Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975) anchored off Pauline Cove near the abandoned whaling settlement on Herschel Island.
