A distant view of a caribou approaching the water's edge at Pauline Cove, Herschel Island
A slightly blurred middle-distant view of a caribou approaching the water's edge at Pauline Cove, Herschel Island. The elbow of a fellow passenger can be seen on the left of the image. In the background are a couple of small boats and a floating pontoon.
On 26 July 1996 the Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975) anchored off Pauline Cove near the abandoned whaling settlement on Herschel Island. Ivy Sharp wrote in her account 'Whilst there we saw a couple of caribou and I went close enough to photograph one which had entered a hut.'
