The Canadian Terrirtorial helicopter on the heli-pad on Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975).
A view from the heli-pad at the stern of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975) of the Canadian Territorial helicopter with the registration mark C-EKHB (or FKHB) preparing to take off, or having just landed. In the far distance is pack ice but the Beaufort Sea is mainly clear of ice.
According to Ivy Sharp's account for Saturday 27 July 1996: 'This afternoon we up in the copter...Well, it was supposed to last five minutes, but because the ship was travelling too fast at 12 knots, my pilot radioed to the captain to reduce speed to 8 knots. As this took a little time we remained aloft, but by now it was raining so visibility was poor. Furthermore, there was very little ice so, apart from the flight novelty, there was little to see,'
