An aerial starboard side view from helicopter of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1975) underway in the open Beaufort Sea.

According to Ivy Sharp's account for Saturday 27 July 1996: 'This afternoon we up in the copter...Well, it was supposed to last five minutes, but because the ship was travelling too fast at 12 knots, my pilot radioed to the captain to reduce speed to 8 knots. As this took a little time we remained aloft, but by now it was raining so visibility was poor. Furthermore, there was very little ice so, apart from the flight novelty, there was little to see,'
