An aerial view of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) in the relatively clear waters of the Queen Maud Gulf and Victoria Strait.

A distant aerial port broadside view of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) of the relatively clear water with few ice floes. On this day the ship was passing through Queen Maud Gulf and Victoria Strait. A similar view to PM11790/6.

Ivy Sharp recorded in her account for 31 July: 'I returned from the flight over the ice flows[sic]. But they were fairly insignificant. We thought the sky was closing in, but it seems to have kept open for the rest of the flights to take place.'
