An aerial view of the distant ice pack in the Queen Maud Gulf and Victoria Strait.
A distant aerial view from the helicopter belonging to the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) of the distant ice pack. On this day the ship was passing through Queen Maud Gulf and Victoria Strait.
Ivy Sharp recorded in her account for 31 July: 'I returned from the flight over the ice flows[sic]. But they were fairly insignificant. We thought the sky was closing in, but it seems to have kept open for the rest of the flights to take place.'
