An aerial port quarter view of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) in the Queen Maud Gulf and Victoria Strait.

A distant aerial port quarter view of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) in the relatively clear water in Queen Maud Gulf and Victoria Strait. Very small and loose pack ice are floating on the water. A slightly unsharp photograph.

Ivy Sharp recorded in her account for 31 July: 'I returned from the flight over the ice flows[sic]. But they were fairly insignificant. We thought the sky was closing in, but it seems to have kept open for the rest of the flights to take place.'
