Cape Riley, Devon Island, taken from the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980).
Cape Riley and the slopes down to Erebus and Terror Bay near Beechey Island taken from on board the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980). Low cloud is hanging above the land which has areas of snow cover. By 1 August the ship was steaming up Peel Sound into Barrow Strait with the intention of visiting Cunningham Inlet on the north coast of Somerset Island, although they eventually went straight to Beechey Island, near Devon Island.
