The grave stones standing on the foreshore of Beechey Island, Barrow Strait.

A general view looking down the line of four replica grave markers on Beechey Island set up in the shale ground. Taken with the cliffs of the interior of Beechey Island behind her, Ivy Sharp is looking eastward towards Devon Island across Erebus and Terror Bay. On the right of the picture is a passenger in a red jacket with black trousers photographing one of the graves. Three of the graves relate to crew from the 1845 Northwest Passage Expedition commanded by Sir John Franklin (John Torrington, William Braine, and John Hartnell) and the fourth grave is of Thomas Morgan from HMS Investigator, who died in 1854.

These grave markers were replacements to the originals, which are now housed in at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, Yellowknife, N.W.T.
