The bleached wooden pyramid monument erected in memory of Sir John Franklin on Beechey Island, Barrow Strait. The inside of the monument is fill of stones, metal cylinders and bottles. A little way in front of the monument, closer to the beach, are two stone monuments. In the far distance is the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980) with the cliffs of Devon Island behind.
The plaque attached to the monument states: 'In memory of Sir John Franklin / and the bicentenary of his birth / in Spilsby Lincolnshire England / 16th April 1786 / Presented by / The people of Spilsby England.'
