Ivy Sharp on the open area of bridge deck of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980).

An informal landscape format photograph of Ivy Sharp leaning against the rail on the after part of the open area on the bridge deck of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980). In the background is the funnel and mast. Part of the radar and radio mast can be seen on the right of the image. Ivy Sharp is smiling at the camera and wrapped up in a thick blue waxed coat with a cream fleecy hood over her head.

Ivy was on deck waiting for the helicopter ride until she had to go in the thaw out. She also wrote in her account for 2 August: 'This evening, after watching the film 'Hamlet', it was back on deck again about midnight to watch the antics of our ship pushing and backing, but temporarily stuck. I have, therefore, decided to leave the navigation to the Captain and so retired.'
