The Canadian Territorial C-FKH helicopter in flight just off the port side of the ice breaker Kapitan Dranitsyn (1980), near the heli-pad. The photograph was taken from the after superstructure looking over the port quarter of the ice breaker. The ship is surrounded by pack ice with cliffs shrouded in low cloud.
Ivy Sharp recalled: 'The copter has just taken off from a stationary vessel looking for somewhere to land. The windchill factor is extremely cold on deck, so, after waiting for some 15 minutes I decided to return to the cabin to thaw out despite the beautiful weather.'
