A slightly distant starboard broadside view of the former United States Navy submarine S.29 (1922) beached in Portchester Creek, Portsmouth Harbour. This vessel served in the Royal Navy from 5 June 1942 to 19 January 1945. She was sold by the United States Navy to H G Pound of Portsmouth on 24 January 1947 for scrapping at his Portchester scrapyard but she ran aground in Portchester Creek and was stripped of all valuable materials as lies. Her hulk lay there until 1970 when it was moved to Pound's Tipner scrapyard.
