Loaded Chinese labourers, Hong Kong

Two Chinese labourers carrying bricks stacked in wooden slings tied to each end of a pole resting on their shoulders. They are walking past temporary buildings and a fenced off yard, which form part of the Praya Reclamation Scheme at Kowloon.

In the distance is the top of the Hong Kong Club building that faces Statue Square.

The original negative envelope was labelled: 'Loaded coolies, Hong Kong, 1901'.
