A general view of the lines of warships anchored at Spithead for the Nato 20th Anniversary Review. The photographer is on board the Royal Navy Type 15 frigate Wakeful (1943) and he is looking north-west from the eastern end of the review lines showing the Trinity House Vessel Patricia (1938) leading the Royal Yacht Britannia (1953) between lines C and D on the right. At the head of line C is the Italian guided missile cruiser Andrea Doria (1963) with the Royal Navy light cruiser Blake (1945) next in line. In Line B on the left are the Royal Navy guided missile destroyer Glamorgan(1964) and the Dutch light cruiser De Ruyter (1944). The ships are dressed overall.
