The north harbour at Algiers, looking south-west on the waterfront.
The north harbour of Algiers looking south-west on the waterfront. In the foreground is a large commercial storage area with motor vehicles, canvas covered piles of commodities, stacks of timber and rows of barrels and boxes on it. Berthed alongside the quay is the general cargo ship Jeanne Schiaffino (1922). A railway passenger and goods depot in just inland from the quay. To the right of centre is the lift up to the upper road, which is backed by a row of four and five storey buildings.
