The passenger cruise liner Laconia (1922) berthed stern-on to the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique terminal quay in the north harbour at Algiers. The photographer is looking aft along the port side from the accommodation ladder above a line of pontoons alongside the ship. Local traders are on these pontoons selling their wares to the passengers and crew of the Laconia (1922). The Totel Oasis is amongst the buildings in the background.
