on board the swedish passenger cruise ship Kungsholm (1928) during a cruise on the River Amazon.

On board the Swedish passenger cruise ship Kungsholm (1928) during a cruise on the River Amazon. The photographer is looking forward and to starboard from the forward end of the starboard upper promenade deck showing a large number of passengers gathered at the rail on the forecastle. Most are in swimwear and an awning has been rigged over the forecastle. It is possible that a temporary swimming pool has been erected on the forecastle for the benefit of the passengers. In the right foreground is motor lifeboatd No. 1 in its davits. The featureless jungle covered river bank is in the background. The precise location in the Amazon is unknown.
