On board the Swedish passenger cruise ship Gripsholm (1925) while at anchor during a cruise along the River Amazon. The photographer is looking forward from the forward end of the starboard promenade deck showing a number of the off duty crew by the forecastle rail taking in the view. An awning is rigged over the forecastle. The ship is off a small settlement on the river bank and two of the ship's boats are returning to her from the landing stage. The precise location in the Amazon is unknown.
