The lighter has a crew of six, four of whom are using the sculling oars. The photographer is looking north-by-east from the south side of the harbour showing a 2 masted schooner alongside the wharf near the Custom House on the north side. A motor car is parked outside the premises of the West India Oil Co which has a large advert for Vacuum Marine Oils above the first floor.
