The photographer is looking forward and slightly to port from the bridge showing the foremast, lifeboats number 2 and 2A under their davits and the forecastle. Crew members are on the forecastle. The Mehmetcik lighthouse is on the headland to the left, the Helles memorial is on the skyline to the left of centre and the ruins of Sedd el Bahr Fort are in the centre.
