The west side of Gibraltar
A slightly distant view of the west side of Gibraltar looking east from on board the passenger cruise ship Orion (1935) in the Bay of Gibraltar. The photographer is on the monkey island looking forward and to port showing one of the ship's officer near the port bridge wing cab. A number of lighters, cargo ships, steam and motor yachts and passenger cruise ships are at anchor in the Bay of Gibraltar. On the extreme right is the Anchor Line's Lancastria (1922) and beyond her is one of the P. & O. lines 3-funnelled Strath class ships, either the Strathnaver (1931) or the Strathaird (1932). The Neutral Zone between Spain and Gibraltar is on the left, overlooked by the Willis Battery with Windmill Hill and Europa Flats on the right.
