The waterfront at Funchal, Madeira.
The waterfront at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer, who is travelling on the Ellerman Line passenger cruise ship City of Nagpur (1922), is looking north-east from the end of the passenger landing pier showing rowing boats and espada fishing boats drawn up on the foreshore. On the extreme left is a tall brick-built column with a mast on top of it and the premises behind it has Blandy Brothers & Co Lda on it. Beyond is the steeple of the Catedral of Nossa Senhora da Assuncao and the clock is reading 11.33.
