The Bahia da Potinha breakwater, Mohle Fort and anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is on t he headland of Reid's Palace Hotel looking east-north-east through trees showing the Mohle Fort at the end of the breakwater which has been strengthened with concrete blocks on the south side. In the anchorage are a general cargo ship with lighters alongside, an unidentified passenger ship and the Anchor Line passenger cruise ship Lancastria (1922). On the left beyond Mohle Fort is a passenger cruise ship which is possibly the French Foucauld (1922).
