The Bahia da Potinha breakwater, Mohle Fort and anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is in the upper garden of Reid's Palace Hotel looking east and on the beach on the left is the private swimming pool of the Savoy Hotel. The Mohle Fort is at the end of the breakwater which has been strengthened with concrete blocks on the south side and beyond the fort is a laden cargo ship at anchor. In the anchorage in the background is the P. & O. Line passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929), seen from ahead of her starboard beam.
