The Lower Barracca Gardens and Fort St. Elmo, Valletta, Malta
The Lower Barracca Gardens and Fort St. Elmo, Valletta, Malta. The photographer is looking north-by-west from a vessel in Bighi Bay, probably the Orient Line passenger cruise ship Orontes (1929), showing two dghaisas in the foreground. The motor lifeboat from the Orontes (1929) is towing a line of fully manned lifeboats into the harbour at the end of a lifeboat drill. The lifeboat crews have their oars tossed. The lighthouse on Fort St. Elmo is on the right.
