The Upper Barracca Lift at Valletta, Grand Harbour and Senglea, Malta.

Looking across the Grand Harbour to Senglea from the Upper Barracca in Valletta, Malta. The photographer is looking south-south-east from the west side of the Upper Barracca showing the top of the braced lattice structure of the lift tower. On the lift access is an advert for Cisk Lacto and written on the tower is "Advertise with Berka & Times of Malta". The Times of Malta was first published in 1935. At moorings in the Grand Harbour at the entrance to Dockyard Creek and seen from dead ahead is the Royal Fleet Auxiliary store carrier Reliant (1923). Senglea is in the centre of the picture and French Creek is on the right.
