The photographer is looking west from aft on the port side of the boat deck showing motor lifeboat number 18 under her davits. On the left is the Castel Nuovo with the Piazzi Municipio and the Basilica San Giacomo Degli Spagnoli to its right. On the hilltop in the background is the Castel Sant Elmo.
