A quayside view of the sloop Idlevice of Kip, the sloop Laga the brig Astrid (1918) and the German gaff schooner Johann Smidt (1974) moored on the River Tyne during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. Idlevice of Kip's name can be seen on the lifeboat container towards the stern of the ship, a banner along the port railings a label attached to the end of the furled sail and a yellow poster attached to the mast. A grey inflatable dinghy can be seen attached to the stern of the sloop. The deck of the sloop is coloured light blue and two women can be seen sitting on the starboard side of the vessel. Moored on the Idlevice of Kip's starboard side is the Dutch sloop Laga, whose name is present on a dark blue banner attached to the port railings and on a yellow poster attached to the mast. Moored in front of the bows of Idlevice of Kip is the auxiliary brig Astrid (1918). The words "ASTRID, WEYMOUTH" is visible in black letters on the stern. Two people can be seen on the stern and a Blue Ensign can be seen attached to one of the spritsails. Moored on Astrid's starboard side is the German Gaff schooner Johann Smidt. The words "JOHANN SMIDT, BREMEN" are painted in black paint on the stern of the ship. The sails of Johann Smidt are furled and a rolled German ensign can be seen attachted to a stern post. A person can be seen on Johann Smidt about to enter the cabin. Moored on the starboard side of Johann Smidt is an unidentified schooner. The flag of St Vincent and the Grenadines is attached to this vessel's stern. An unidentified Tyne Towage tug boat can be seen sailing along the river in the background.
