A distant starboard side view of the RNLI boat George and Olive Turner (1980) entering Tynemouth harbour during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. The lifeboat is motoring towards the mouth of Tynemouth Harbour. Off the port bow of the lifeboat is a small blue and white workboat and a yellow hulled Bermudan rigged sloop, the latter is leaving the harbour. A small white hulled vessel is present beneath the South Shields Lighthouse and the South Shields Pier. A vessel with a black hull and yellow superstructure is visible off the stern of George and Olive Turner, motoring towards the mouth of Tynemouth harbour. A variety of small craft can be seen moored on the left hand side of the image. A partial view of the back of a person's head on Tynemouth Pier is visible in the foreground.
