A close view of the aft end of the starboard side of the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) anchored in a Norwegian fjord. She has an accommodation ladder rigged to her main deck and three of her manual lifeboats, numbers 6, 4 and 3 seen from off the bow, are alongside it. They have been manned almost entirely by passengers and are getting ready for a race between them. Two of the boats have tossed their oars. the photographer is in a motor lifeboat which is preparing to tow the boats away from the ship. Negatives numbers P84420 to P84439 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
