The harbour and town at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife Island, Canary Islands.

The harbour and town at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife Island, Canary Islands. The photographer is looking south-west from the foot of the accommodation ladder of the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928) which is at anchor outside the harbour. Various ships are alongside the breakwater on the left and the Insular Palace is in the later stages of its construction beyond the breakwater. Various smaller craft are alongside the shore on the west side of the harbour including a coastal cargo vessel on the right that has been converted from a 1918-1919 Royal Navy Kil class gunboat. Beyond the bow of this vessel is the clock and bell tower of the San Francisco de Asis church.
