The pitch loading jetty at La Brea, Trinidad. The photographer is on a shore excursion from a cruise ship and is looking north-west between two palm trees from a slight slope showing the jetty with its overhead transporter system jutting out into the Gulf of Paria. A cargo steamer is alongside the loading gantries shipping a cargo of pitch in barrels. Two barrels are carried out in each of the cradles.
