The Riva Schiavoni at Venice, Italy

The Riva Schiavoni at Venice, Italy. The photographer is looking east-south-east along the road from an upper floor in the Hotel Danieli showing the equestrian statue of Vittorio Emanuele II 1887 by Ettore Ferrari in the foreground. A number of piers and jetties for passenger launches and ferries are at the waterfront. The column fronted Chiesa Santa Maria della Pieta is on the left. Three steam tugs belonging to the Panfido company are berthed bow on to the roadway and the furthest one from the camera is the salvage tug Ursus (1918). In the background work is proceeding on the construction of the Riva Ca' di Dio.
