Orient Line lifeboats under tow in a Norwegian fjord for a boat race.

Orient Line lifeboats under tow in a Norwegian fjord for a boat race. The photographer is in a motor lifeboat looking aft at a line of four manual lifeboats that are being towed in line astern towards the start line of the race. The carvel built boats are manned by passengers who are under the supervision of two crew members in each boat and they all have their oars tossed. The leading boat is lifeboat number 10. The negative was identified by Marine Photo Service as the boats of the Orion (1935) but her manual lifeboats were all clinker built. A large granary or silo building is under construction in the background. A vertical format negative.
