A distant view of many spritsail barges and other sailing craft assembled in the River Medway, Kent, presumably at the start of a Medway Barge Match. The vessels are facing in many different directions and all are under sail. To the left of centre, seen from off her starboard beam and with a Hoseasons logo on her topsail is the Xylonite (1926). In the centre and also seen from off her starboard beam is a barge with white sails and a drawing of a crowned head in the topsail and to her right is a barge with RDL in the topsail.
