A starboard near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the general cargo ship Turkistan (1963) sailing outward in the Mersey estuary, fully laden. She is on her maiden voyage and is passing the Mersey Docks & Harbour board pilot tender Sir Thomas Brocklebank (1950) which is anchored off the Mersey Bar and is also seen from ahead of her starboard beam. She is Pilot Tender No. 1 and has LIVERPOOL PILOT painted on her hull. The horizon is not level. Negatives numbers N85644 to N85649 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
